As a child, I watched my mother try everything to stop four hungry kids from emptying a fresh batch of homemade cookies in less than a day. Her eventual solution was completely unexpected, and the result wasn’t just fewer cookies eaten. It revealed something profound about human behaviour, scarcity, and why lasting change rarely comes from trying harder.
