If you haven’t been following along and read the past posts on this subject, I do urge you to do so now before continuing. Here are the links:

As you have read in the past posts there are some fundamental flaws in a system that is designed perfectly to work. One of the big ones is that the mind can’t tell what is real and not. So then what is the truth?

Here are a few definations and descriptions to play and muddle over.
RELATIVE TRUTH
Relative Truth means there is no such thing as absolute truths that transcend personal belief, and anything that a person believes is true even if their “truth” contradicts with demonstrable facts…
To say that something is relatively true means that it can be true for one person and not for another. The claim that “chocolate is the best food in the world” and many will argue that fact, can be both true and false, depending on the person.
That is what is meant by the phrase, “That is true for you, but not for me.”
We can get into a lot of trouble if we take a stand on relative truth as being THE TRUTH, making others wrong.
Here are some qualities of Relative Truth:
- it is created not discovered
- it is a matter of perspective
- each culture or individual defines it for themselves
- no universal transcultural truth
- can change over time
- one’s beliefs can change a truth statement
- truth can change with the attitude of the one that holds it
- there is no such thing as absolute truth (or is there?)
Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
Marcus Aurelius
ABSOLUTE TRUTH
Absolute truth is something that is true at all times in all places. It is something that is always true no matter what the circumstances. It is a fact that cannot be changed.
For example, there are no round squares. Can you think of others?
Here are some of the qualities of Absolute Truth:
- Truth is discovered not invented.
- Truth is transcultural: it can be conveyed across different cultures.
- Truth is unchanging – it can be conveyed across time.
- Beliefs cannot change a truth statement no matter how sincere one may be.
- Truth is unaffected by the attitude of the one professing it.
- All Truths are absolute.
- Truth is knowable
Did you come up with any examples of Absolute Truths?
How about gravity? Does is follow the qualities above?
What I know have and have experienced about gravity is that when I am not paying attention to it, it still still carries on. Even if you didn’t believe in it, gravity doesn’t care!
Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.
Mahatma Ghandi
So till we meet again, play with these definitions of truth. Challenge your truths and ask yourself, is this a relative truth or is it absolute truth? Also, notice which ones you act upon more and which ones you take a stand on.
Remember I am not judging what is right or wrong here, only pointing out how our conditioned mind tends to work.
Play and experiment with this and leave a comment to two of what you have noticed. Love to hear from you.
Lots of Love,
